Have you looked into the non-traditional forms of striking, such as hammer fists and elbow strikes? I often suspect these moves are more ‘natural’ than the ones often espoused by modern boxers and mma participants. Anyway, thanks for giving me something to think about.
Nice article, I’ve got to say I agree with most of it.
Most modern participants in martial arts teach or learn that outfighting (like kickboxing or boxing) is less than effective against anyone with some skill in grappling or wrestling.
That is why moves from the clinch like elbow strikes are indispensable - they are in the middle between boxing and kickboxing and grappling, sports wrestling, or clinch fighting and dirty boxing.
But mostly I figured out from this post is that I need to practice more. Thanks for writing good articles.
